Thanksgiving is a time to hang out with family, watch football and eat food. Lots and lots of food. This year, skip the traditional turkey and dressing and impress your family by providing the main course with that venison you just got out hunting. There are so many ways you can incorporate venison into a Thanksgiving meal, like using the tender venison loin for a more traditional pot of chili to serve a big crowd. Whatever you choose, we’ve got some tasty recipes to inspire you.

Delicious Tender Venison Loin

  • 1 pound venison loin
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 3 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 5 teaspoon water

  1. Place the venison loin on a plate and set off to the side. Then mix all of the remaining ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl to create the marinade.
  2. After the marinade is completely mixed, put in a gallon sized plastic bag with the venison loin. Let the meat soak in the marinade overnight.
  3. Remove the venison loin from the plastic bag and move it to a broiler pan.
  4. Bake at 375°F until the temperature is 5 degrees less than what you want. Use a meat thermometer by placing into the venison loin, and remove the venison from the oven when the internal temperature of the meat reaches 140°F degrees. Avoid overcooking so the meat does not dry out.
  5. Allow it rest to for five minutes, and then cut into very thin slices.
  6. Pair with mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and salad for a full meal.
